Project overview
A private performing arts centre in Dubai engaged AVIPRO Technologies to design and install the complete AV, acoustic treatment, and stage systems for a new 600-seat auditorium. The venue was designed to host a diverse programme — classical concerts, theatrical productions, corporate events, and graduation ceremonies — requiring a highly flexible technical infrastructure.
The challenge
The acoustic requirements for a classical concert hall are fundamentally different from those of a corporate event venue. The client needed a single space that could perform at the highest level across all formats. Variable acoustic panels, a complex rigging system, and a broadcast-grade audio infrastructure all had to coexist within the architect's clean aesthetic vision, which allowed no exposed technical equipment in the audience sightlines.
Our solution
AVIPRO specified motorised acoustic panels on all side walls and the rear of the hall, allowing the reverberation time to be adjusted from 1.2 seconds (speech/corporate) to 2.1 seconds (orchestral) within 8 minutes. A Meyer Sound Constellation active acoustic system provides additional flexibility. The stage rigging system comprises 48 motorised fly bars and a full LED lighting rig. All technical equipment — amplifiers, DSPs, patch bays — is housed in a dedicated technical gallery behind the stage, completely invisible from the auditorium.
AVIPRO delivered an auditorium that our technical director describes as one of the finest in the region. The acoustic flexibility is extraordinary — we can host a string quartet and a corporate conference in the same day.
